I just received my vinyl copy of 1961 in the post today and it's spinning on the platter as I type. Oh the twang. I absolutely love this album. And the fact that I can listen to it on vinyl makes it even better! Allen Palmgren
Before they became Kobanes, these Chicago Ramones-inspired poppy punkers formed this instro-surf band with a creepy, satanic theme and actually came up with twelve great, spooky instrumental surf tunes that transcend the schlock. Recorded in the Mecca of pop-punk, Sonic Iguana, by the Pope of pop-punk, Mass Giorgini ten years ago, then they broke up and none of us even knew about it until now. It's a very unlikely scenario, but hey, the devil works in mysterious ways. John Nunnally
The debut LP from Kioea is dreamy psychedelic surf music that calls back to the '60s while feeling remarkably contemporary. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 22, 2023
This album makes me want to throw a cool retro surf party JUST so I can play the album and make everyone listen to it. I actually hate parties, but it would be worth it to make everyone I know listen to this. Matt Talbot
